RHODODENDRONS at Fearing Farm

On Sunday, April 28th FEARING FARM, a species Rhododendron and Azalea grower, had an open garden so I took the opportunity to go and see fabulous rhododendrons and azaleas in their natural setting.  It was really something else!  There were so many big and small plants most in full bloom it was really spectacular!  It was wonderful to see them growing to full size with lots of elbow room in the woodland setting.  The property is really pretty, its one of those places you drive by and think I wonder who lives there?  The farm is on Ross Road in Abbotsford, BC which is a lovely area with rolling fields.  There is a long driveway leading through the field past the greenhouses on up to the main house which sits on a hillside so there are 360 degree views of the valley.  The forest area where the rhododendrons are is before the house on the right.  The owners were so generous as they encouraged the visitors to explore the forested area, no matter which path I took I saw plant after plant, some with very unusual blossoms!  There are more photos under ‘Garden Path’.
